In Tappy, minimalist, poetic rumination on love, loneliness, and loss are spoken in dialogue between characters from children’s cartoons, informed by the designs of Walt Disney, Ralph Bakshi, Van Beuren, and Lladró ceramics. Addressing existentialism and solitude through nostalgic cartoon characters, Portland-based artist Nou contemplates a bygone innocence while confronting the malaise that plagues adult life.
